Laser Hair Removal - Fort Worth, TX

What to Expect

Patients can expect to feel a series of light stings or pops throughout the treatment, often compared to the sensation of a rubber band sting. Most laser hair removal devices are equipped with a cooling sequence that occurs between pulses of the laser, which reduces the chance of unwanted side effects and helps ease discomfort and irritation. There are multiple laser hair removal devices in today’s market, varying in size based on the dimension of the area being treated.

Laser Hair Removal Procedure

Prior to procedure, both practitioner and patient are given protective eyewear that must be worn for the duration of the session. The licensed medical aesthetician begins each laser hair removal treatment by placing a hand-held laser directly on the patient’s skin where the unwanted hair is located. On activation, the laser’s energy is transferred to the skin by targeting the hair’s melanin. Each follicle absorbs the heat the laser emits, damaging the follicle and making it difficult for new growth to occur. Most patients repeat these 30 to 45-minutes sessions once every four to six weeks, achieving their desired results over the course of several months.

Overview

Are you frustrated and tired by your daily routine of shaving or waxing? Let the experience of permanent Laser Hair Removal at Anderson MedSpa of Forth Worth set you free. Our procedure safely removes unwanted hair by targeting only the hair follicles while leaving the surrounding tissue undamaged. It is important to note that laser treatment affects only hair follicles that are in the growing stage, so 8 to 12 treatment sessions may be required for best results. Generally, after a full complement of sessions most patients achieve 80-100% permanent hair removal. The most common areas treated for laser hair removal are the legs, underarms, bikini area, and face for female patients, while our male clients frequently have the back, legs, arms, chest, and neck treated.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs

Who is The Ideal Candidate?
If you are an individual with unwanted hair, you are a candidate for laser hair removal. Patient response to laser treatment will vary depending on the pigment of both skin and hair. Those with darker hair and lighter skin often achieve better results, while individuals with lighter colored hair usually require more treatments on average. The total number of sessions you will require to achieve your desired results will generally depend on the thickness of the hair, the amount of hair coverage in the treated area, and hair color.

Why Do I Need So Many Sessions?
Since hair growth is cyclical, some hairs could be in the middle of their growth phase during a laser hair removal treatment session while others lay dormant. Spreading out your treatments allows those dormant hairs to cycle back in to their growth phase, thereby including all of the hairs in the target area to be treated equally. In the interim of treatments, hairs that have experienced growth can safely be shaved, as that does not affect the follicle.
What is The Recovery Like?
The skin of the treated area will typically be pink and experience some tingling for a few hours after each treatment. Patients normally leave their session and go directly back home or to work. In general, there is no significant downtime associated with a laser hair removal treatment.
Will The Hair Grow Back?
While laser hair removal is considered a strong solution for the elimination of unwanted hair, it should be considered semi-permanent. Patients can still experience some hair growth in treated areas where the laser may have not directly pulsed. Even though the majority of the hair will be absent, a few stubborn or undamaged follicles could still show some growth. If this does occur, many patients find that these are tremendously easier to manage than prior to their original treatments. Of course, if a patient still wants a more complete result, then more laser hair removal sessions can be scheduled to address any unwanted remaining hair.
