BOTOX® (Wrinkle Relaxer) - Fort Worth, TX

What to Expect

Immediately following BOTOX injections, redness and mild swelling will appear at the injection sites. This is normal and will diminish within a few hours. Ice packs may be applied intermittently if desired. Patients are permitted to resume daily activities as tolerated, though advised to avoid exercise for the remainder of the day. Keeping the head elevated for 8-10 hours afterward is recommended. After 4 to 7 days, patients will notice decreased ability to fully move treated areas, though you will still maintain facial expression. With this limited movement wrinkles relax, resulting in smoother, softer skin.

Administering Botox

BOTOX treatment is accomplished in the office without the need of anesthesia. Allow at least 30 minutes for your appointment, depending on the extent of treated areas. Every patient has unique features which are addressed individually by the doctor. The dosage of BOTOX as well as injection locations are tailored specifically to your needs.

Once you and your doctor have agreed upon the specific areas of the face to be treated, they will be precisely marked. The injection is then given through a syringe to each marked area. There is a pricking sensation as the needle enters the skin, but cold compresses sufficiently ease this discomfort. The number of injections you received is dependent upon the depth, location, and quantity of wrinkles.

Overview

If the emergence of forehead creases, crow’s feet, or laugh lines have kept you from feeling your best, a face refresher with BOTOX treatments may be right for you. A perfect alternative for clients not ready for plastic surgery, BOTOX is a long-term, temporary treatment of the early signs of aging.

Dr. Daniels, has restored a youthful look to the faces of many Anderson MedSpa women and men with BOTOX treatments in our Fort Worth location. The immense popularity of BOTOX is twofold: it reduces and prevents wrinkles without the need for surgery, while still allowing clients the ability to control natural facial expressions. Unlike other injectables, BOTOX is not a filler. It works by preventing the contraction of facial muscles, thereby prohibiting skin to fold over and wrinkle. Existing lines relax, and new ones are prevented from forming. With BOTOX, your appearance is improved, but you still look like you. The minimally invasive process is short, requires no downtime, and provides noticeable results for up to 4 months. Dr. Daniels will advise on the amount and frequency of injections most suitable for you.

BOTOX® FAQs

Is it safe?
As the most popular cosmetic procedure in America, BOTOX has been FDA-approved to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines for over 15 years. It has passed formal trials and is safely administered worldwide. To ensure you receive the highest quality product, BOTOX should only be administered by a qualified medical practitioner. Accepting injections by an inexperienced or unqualified source greatly increases the risk of bruising, overmedicating, or even receiving a compromised product.

Are There Comparable Medications?
You may have also heard of Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA), a competitor to BOTOX. FDA-approved in 2009, Dysport is more often used specifically to treat crow’s feet around the eyes, while BOTOX is preferred for deeper forehead lines. Both drugs act in the same manner by relaxing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles. Both drugs have their advantages and distinctions, and the best choice for you will be decided in consultation with your medical provider.

Botox or Filler?
If you feel that your skin would benefit from a little plumping up, consider treatment by injectable fillers such as Restylane, Juvéderm, or Perlane. These products decrease the appearance of wrinkles by adding volume to localized facial structures, creating a smoother surface of the skin. The end result is similar to that of BOTOX, which temporarily freezes the underlying muscle, allowing wrinkles to naturally relax. A skilled medical practitioner will be able to determine which approach would achieve the best results for you.
What is The Best Age for Treatment?
Any adult, male or female, who wants to soften facial lines and prevent deeper wrinkles may be a candidate for BOTOX treatment, though the most common client is between 30-55. If you are wondering if you are ready for BOTOX, a formal consultation is the best way to obtain all the right information necessary to make an informed decision.
How Long Will It Last?
BOTOX is an extended but temporary treatment. Results will last for several months but not forever. Qualified practitioners advise that is actually good news! In the rare event that you are not happy with your results, they will only last a few months before you are back to your normal appearance. But if you love your results (which most people do), the confidence gained from looking and feeling younger will continue, and you maintain the option to renew your treatments as desired.
