Eyelid Lift Surgery Fort Worth

What To Expect During And After Surgery

Eyelid surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure in an accredited surgical facility. Patients are placed under general anesthesia for this procedure. For both upper and lower eyelids to be corrected, surgery typically lasts around 2 hours. Afterward, bruising and swelling will be apparent around the eyes. Ice compresses, elevation, and medicated eye ointments will help ease these symptoms. Before long, family and friends will notice the remarkable improvement created by this subtle change. Often, the actual procedure is hard to determine even though the results are unmistakable!

Upper Eyelid Surgery

Incisions for upper eyelid surgery are made within the natural fold of the lid and extended outward, allowing for maximal concealing of any scarring. The incision is carried out as wide as possible in order to address any other skin folds outside of the upper eye that require attention. After access is gained through the incision, excess skin, tissue and, when necessary, a portion of the orbicularis oculi muscle, are removed. Closure of the skin is accomplished with absorbable sutures, and the scar remains inconspicuous because of its location in the natural crease.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

After making an incision along the bottom lash line, the surgeon removes excess fat and tissue. For patients who still have good skin tone, a transconjunctival blepharoplasty can be performed. This technique approaches the under-eye from an incision inside the lower eyelid rather than outside it. In patients lacking fat in this area, injectables can be used to fill in any deficiencies. This often occurs in patients with dark under-eye circles. While injectables won’t change the color of dark circles, they will improve the overall appearance of the eye.

Overview Humans are so dependent upon their eyes for self-expression, and if our eyes appear tired or aged, we may not be sending out the messages we intend. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is performed in Anderson Plastic Surgery’s Fort Worth facility to successfully remove under-eye bags, lift drooping or tired lids, and soften wrinkles in a truly natural-appearing presentation. The look does not seem “worked on” so the result allows the real you to be expressed as you intend – happy, youthful, and confident. At your consultation, plastic surgeon Dr. Daniels will thoroughly convey the precautions we take during eyelid surgery to obtain the natural result you seek. Upon completion, you will have a brighter, more open look to your eyes.

Rhinoplasty FAQs

Will There Be Visible Scars?
Because of carefully placed incisions, scarring will not be visible after eyelid surgery. Incisions in the upper eyelid follow the natural crease of the eye. Incisions in the lower eyelid run below the eyelashes or just inside the eyelid.

Can It Help Crow’s Feet?
If your main concern is crow’s feet, eyelid surgery is not the first-choice treatment. BOTOX® injections and procedures such as a browlift are more effective at eliminating the wrinkles of crow’s feet, though eyelid surgery can be a complementary procedure to reduce puffy bags and excess skin. These options will be compared during consultation.
What About Irritation After Surgery?
While each patient is different, common after-effects of blepharoplasty include temporary dryness and minimal irritation. Appropriate ointments and eye drops will be recommended for use during the healing phase. Additionally, care should be taken by the patient to protect their eyes from wind and sun exposure for several months after surgery; dark sunglasses are sufficient for this purpose.

You may be quite pleased to find that eyelid surgery actually improves your vision by omitting any excess skin that may have impaired vision. Aesthetically, a younger appearance is revealed, and you can see the world completely unobstructed. Because the eyelids are so delicate, it is imperative to select a skilled surgeon with expertise specifically in eyelid surgery. Strong attention is given during this surgery to ensure that the eyes themselves remain untouched. [/su_spoiler]
